Brought a 9 inch was told it was for a eh with hq stud paten how ever when i went to pick it up i tyred a hq rim did not fit.
When i got home i fitted a eh rim it fits. Are the axle retainers the same on a eh and hq if so has any one got a set of hq rear brakes with backing plates and hand brake cables cheers Dave

Axle retainers are the same so HQ backing plates should bolt up onto the the diff housing. Dimension of axle flange with relation to backing plate will need to be correct to ensure alignment of brake shoes & drums.
How has the early stud pattern set up been done on the axles?
When the housing is fitted into the car, check clearance of the bowl at the rear of the housing around the floor area near the front of the fuel tank. If it has been set up correctly, it should not touch that area but will come close.

The saga goes on fitted backing plates by use of die grinder great put axle in slipped a brake drum on only to fined out it didn't cover all the linings :( axles have been made incorrectly trip to Melbroune to fix  Hope i have no problems with the diff shop that made them .
