Master cylinder rebuild

by ss2fly [old] » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:21 pm

Hi team,
Having fitted the Trimatic and all its bits I decided to bleed the brakes. I then remembered I need to rebuild the standard EH brake master cylinder.

Got myself a rebuild kit, inspected the bore, so far so good....

Problem is, I cant remember how it goes together and in what order...

Been a while since I stripped it to clean it...

Can anyone assist with a diagram or something??

Happy to be of assistance.
One of the best things we own is the EJ/EH workshop manual. It's a good 2inches thick and one of the best investments we've made. It's a bit tatty but it does the job.

Good luck with the rebuild. Don't forget as you put it back together to have some new brake fluid next to you, dip your finger in it and wipe some fluid over all the parts before you slide them back in. Stops the surface rust between when you assemble and put it back on the car. Also helps the rubber slide in easier too.

PBR rubber grease is a better option for assembly of the master cylinder and can be purchased from repco.
