Beaver replacement

Hi all, can anyone help with info on over hang at the base when fitting a fitting a rares beaver panel. Panel has v notches cut in bottom that leave gaps when fitted flush with bottom of inner panel. In two minds thought this may be to drain water but also thinking would be better to seal off area. Have also fitted a inner beaver replacement so not sure if original may have had a larger flange to eliminate this. Have looked through many posts but can’t find a picture of the base to answer. Started back on my project wagon with some more shed time due to lock down so will get some build pics up soon to keep me motivated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Greywagon, sorry for the late post, didn't see it when you put it up. When I replaced mine I used them for drain holes. If you plug them up you will get rust. Water will enter from your bumper mount holes in the back and trap the water in. Would love to see some pics of your build in the build section.
