Dynatec cam specs

Hey guys I purchased a short motor some time ago for my EH it seemed like a steal at $100. That got me a 186 block 60thou over. It came with what I'm told was a 'warm' Dynatec cam and straight cut timing gears. Motor is apart now getting new bearings and rings.
I know these cams aren't the best in V8s but I can't find anyone that has had a prob with them in a six. I want to know if anyone has used one or knows of one being used and can tell me if they are any good. Numbers on the end of the shaft read CM6??? I can't find anything on the net about them.

AFAIK, the Dynotec red motor lumpsticks should have a part number starting with CM:

CM202 (standard cam) duration @0.050" lift 194º/202º, valve lift 0.390"/0.410"
CM203 (stage 1) duration @0.050" lift 208º/208º, valve lift 0.420"/0.420"
CM205 (stage 2) duration @0.050" lift 214º/214º, valve lift 0.429"/0.429"
CM206 (stage 3) duration @0.050" lift 224º/224º, valve lift 0.467"/0.467"

Old post I know but I picked up a dynotec cd205r Cam off gumtree for a good price. I’m hoping it’s not too hairy for the 179 I’m putting together for my FB ute, running fb crash box. I don’t plan doing much driving in traffic but rolling starts in second could be an issue if I run taller gears? Also durability of the crashie of course. I’ll have to be prudent omg omg wtf. I do have four spare boxes.

The 20º extra duration should be OK (lumpy but not a pig). There is a fair bit more lift than standard though - not sure how much lift a standard 179 head will handle though suspect it should be OK with standard pistons.

The crashie will handle the load provided you are gentle with the clutch. Spot weld the synchro snap rings if needs be.

Thanks Harv. I do have a yellaterra stage 1 spec head I could run but it is a 202L so non adjustable rockers.

Would the lift be a potential issue due to clearance or is it using stock rocker setup working the cam too hard that concerns you?

I had to change my push rods and go to different ratio rockers

Changing the rockers would be a way to negate spring bind but kinda defeats the purpose of the extra lift?
