G'day all,

Last outing in the rain the windscreen wipers on The EH wagon stopped on the upward swing. If you gave them a push they went back down, came up and then stopped again in the same spot. I have since pulled the Preslite motor apart and found the teeth have partially been stripped on the main gear and shaft assy. Question is, where the hell do I get another gear assy from? Has anyone had this happen before as I can't see why it would only strip in the one location? Also are there any tricks / watchpoints when reassembling the unit as the workshop manual tells you nothing (photos were taken when pulling apart for reference). Thanks.

Hi Brent,
Doesn’t seem to be much traffic on here lately sadly. I suggest you need to find another complete motor. Maybe you could find one which is not working reasonably cheap and use the part from it. I am more familiar with EK motors. These are now being substituted, using the motor from 90s era commodores retrofitted to original base plate. No doubt someone will be doing similar for EJ EH.
Cheers,
Clay

G'day Clay,
Thanks for the reply. I had done exactly what you suggested below and scored a motor on ebay yesterday for $130. The add stated it was in "excellent" condition, so hoping for a straight install, otherwise it will be a part swap and repair. Was also looking at the aftermarket ones for sale on the EJ EH appreciation Facebook page for $300.
Cheers,
Brent
