Fuel Gauge info

My fuel gauge reads quarter full when empty, tank unit tested and has smooth variation in resistance. Can anyone tell me the correct voltage that should be present at the tank unit. Thanks

If the sender and fuel gauge are working fine you just need to adjust the float arm in the tank to change the float height

Hi mate, the resistance on your sender should read 30 ohms at full and zero when empty. Just make sure the sender wire is disconnected so that you’re just measuring across the sender unit and not including the fuel gauge.
To check the gauge, just short out the sender wire to earth, ie no resistance, and it should read empty.

Cheers, John

Thanks for all the helpful info, tested gauge with 30 ohm resistor and it reads full, reads empty at 0 ohms. Tank unit varies from 8 ohms to 40 ohms, so i guess that's the cause of the problem. Thanks again.
